Marketplace Home Mortgage Partners with Urban Homeworks

We’re excited to let you know that Marketplace Home Mortgage has entered into a partnering relationship with the local non-profit housing organization, Urban Homeworks.  Marketplace has been looking for a substantial way to give back to the community, and we thought that it would be fitting to work with an organization whose mission is closely tied with the housing industry. 

The mission of Urban Homeworks is to perpetuate the hope of Jesus Christ through innovative community development that produces dignified housing for low income families, a strategic network of good neighbors, and the redemptive development of real estate.  Urban Homeworks has been working since 1995 to improve housing in both St. Paul and Minneapolis, and their new office is located just north of Broadway Avenue in North Minneapolis, the part of our community which has been hardest hit by the foreclosure crisis.  Since many of those foreclosures were directly related to poor mortgage transactions, we feel that our industry has a responsibility, and our company a fantastic opportunity, to help redeem those through our partnership and involvement.

Our company had the privilege to help sponsor Urban Homeworks’ annual “Perpetuate the Hope” fundraising luncheon in November of 2009, and we’ve begun bi-monthly volunteer opportunities for the Marketplace staff to work at a UHW job site.  We’ve also committed to giving a portion of each of our company’s loan transactions to the work of Urban Homeworks.
